This video shows the story of a creative process. From a moment in time captured with my iPhone, which inspired me to study the scene more closely because I believed it had a larger context and meaning potential for me as an artist and a teacher. Of course, I had to take action in order to find out if any of that was true. At the end of the process, which took about two years from 2022 to 2024 which I filled several sketchbooks with hundreds of drawings for the figure, ten 9"x12" sketches, five panels each approximately 36"x 48", which started as charcoal drawings and ended as full color pastel drawings. Nine 6" x 8" oil paintings, and finally the 72" x 48" oil painting. The final painting included 10 figures in different positions, a landscape, a railroad bridge, ruined buttresses of an old covered bridge, running water, distant mountains, foliage, and a still-life.
